By David Maloney, Sr. Account Manager
I’ve been blessed in my life (and in my career in particular), to have people around me that had the wisdom and patience to help me through the learning process. My parents, Joe and Mary Maloney taught me sound values, the joy of learning, the importance of a dedicated work ethic, the strength and power of family, and the responsibility of giving back.

I had teachers and coaches along the way that left an indelible mark on me. My English teacher in high school, Mr. Haley, taught me to use my imagination and think outside of myself and my surroundings. My grammar school basketball coach, Mr. Cole, taught me to respect my opponents, and that preparation, effort, and a “never give up attitude” were the keys to success in any endeavor.
In my professional career, Arthur Dellheim, the owner of Adell, sparked my passion for the plastics industry, and illustrated by example, that I could enjoy a long career, as long as I kept up my energy and dedication.
My friend Michael McCabe at Sunoco (now Braskem) helped me navigate the resin producer world, which was totally foreign to me when I started back in the ‘90s.
At Genesis Polymers, Tony Segale, is a model for thoroughness, prioritizing, and keeping “cool under pressure.” Tony demonstrates to all of us, that one can be firm and decisive, but still measured, respectful, and a gentleman at all times. My customers (many of which I’ve had business/personal relationships for over 20 years), helped me understand necessity of standards, forthrightness, and a commitment to excellence.
At every stage of my life/career, I have been blessed to have people around me who were incredibly generous with their time and interest to aid me throughout my journey. I realize that I would not have gotten very far without support from each and every one of them. For this reason, I feel privileged to work at Genesis Polymers, where mentorship is a way of life. We have an amazing combination of youthful energy and proven experience at Genesis.
Our senior players are enthusiastic about sending the “elevator” back down to pick up the new crop of talent and bring them up to a much higher level, by sharing their vast knowledge gained through experience. It not only helps the individuals being mentored, but also brings significant value to our customers, as we get young talent “up to speed” quickly and efficiently.

Our culture at Genesis respects experience but is equally excited by the potential of our future “stars”. We work hand-in-hand with each other today for an even brighter Genesis tomorrow. When you do business with Genesis, you can take comfort in knowing that there is a team behind us that cares deeply not only for the success and well-being of our customers, but our fellow employees as well.
The reality is, “You Don’t Get There Alone!”
